Rachel McAdams to bring those knife skills over to DOCTOR STRANGE!

Earlier this month, a rumor (originating at Heroic Hollywood) arose that Rachel McAdams was a hot contender for the female lead in DOCTOR STRANGE. McAdams confirmed the veracity of this rumor to the LA Times, saying that while it’s in “super-early days” and that she doesn’t “know where that's gonna go, if it's gonna go anywhere at all,” she is indeed in talks to costar opposite Cumberbatch in Scott Derrickson’s film.

McAdams is currently kicking ass (both figuratively and literally) in this season of TRUE DETECTIVE, showing a tough grittiness she hasn’t really hinted at in her other work. Marvel has had a very iffy track record with its female leads; other than Peggy Carter and arguably Black Widow, the Marvel ladies have been either joyless (Gamora), mostly relegated to the sidelines (Hope Van Dyne, Jane Foster), or both (Betty Ross). If they’re going to continue to bring talent like Evangeline Lilly and Rachel McAdams aboard these flicks, they damned well better be coming up with worthy shit for them to do, and not just keep them around to crack wise in tight outfits while the boys go do the actual asskicking.

Of course, all they gotta do is give her major screentime as Clea the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension, and a lot of that would be instantly solved.

What you guys think of McAdams starring in STRANGE even if, like “fetch”, it's not going to happen?

DOCTOR STRANGE operates on November 4th, 2016.
