PorkBoy reports in on JASON X!

Published at:  Oct 21, 2000 5:46:39 PM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here with JASON X news from PorkBoy... the same fella that gave us them great reports on the Blair Witch Webfest... Without further ado, I'm just gonna hand it over to him.. I can't wait to see Cronenberg in this one... he's a hundred times spookier than Jason...

Porkboy has taken most of the following info from Diabolical-Dominion.Com, who had originally come up with it. Check em out, they're great!

Hey Harry,

Howdy everyone!! Porkboy here for another wonderful day in movie land. I hope
everyone enjoyed my Blairwitch webfest2000 report. Well, Here is some news
about the tenth Jason movie, JasonX!!!

Newline Cinemas have just recieved the final JasonX film. It passed through
the MPAA inspection with a rated "R". Some of the MPAA workers even commended
how great this film is and how this is bringing the franchise back in place,
reinvinting it is more like it. Doesnt that totally rock? When do you hear
the MPAA saying stuff like this? Well, this rated "R" was pretty much
predictable since their is tons of killings (more than all previous Jasons),
nudity, and all the other great stuff we all love. The one thing that was not
predictable is that the MPAA hardly cut anything out. This means that we are
basiclly going to get JasonX in its entirty with no cut scenes!!

New Line Cinemas will be having a screening of the film on the 25th of
October. Finnally after many years of waiting this movie is coming and its
gonna be awesome!! The rumored April 13th, 2001 date has beeen cancelled and
now there is no offical date for this movie. If Newline wants to stay with
tradition I think they should aim it for April, Friday the 13th, 2001.

In some more Jason news, Newline Cinemas offical website, Newline.com, they
are auctioning off a JasonX scene slate (you know, those little marked scene
plates). The slate is supposedly autographed by the cast and crew of JasonX.
With the auction, NewLine has stated that the movie wont be coming out until
Fall 2001 but of course thats still not all offical, but pretty much likely.

I will keep all you up with more on JasonX and I will see how the screening
at New Line went along. Until then, Im out!

...they're gonna cut out the middle and strive for a suckfest. If they wanted to make a film "for the fans", they'd make a genuinely scary, kick-ass, way-it-should-be-done horror film with ol' Jason, instead of shooting him up into space to make a comedy. Who the f**k's idea was it to make a "comedy" anyway?

    by manhoganistic

Even if this movie "was made for the fans", how is NewLine expecting to make all their money back? I mean, after the 4 or 5 Friday fans that are still out there see it, who's left? This franchise has been dead for A LONG TIME. I can't even remeber seeing the first one, I do however, remeber Jason punching the fake head off the guy in the last one (The one with the boat errr, the one in NY). I'll see this new one if they spend all of the 14 million on fake dummy heads for Jason to kick around. How about some real information? Who's in it? What chicks get naked? HOW MANY FAKE FUCKING HEADS?

  • I'm talking of course, about Hellraiser: Bloodline. My god, I was so pissed when I shelled out 5 bucks to see that in the theater. I should've fuckin' known. When the credits played, and 'Directed by Alan Smithee' came up (the original director asked to keep his name off of the stinker of a film), I knew I should have left to go see something else, a chick flick, teen high school movie, anything but Hellraiser. Yep, that particular movie ended up revolving around some outer-space plot, which I can't remember because it was so forgettable. uhm...JasonX. I have to admit, Jason leaves me feeling nostalgic for my junior high years of reading Fangoria cover to cover, wishing I could afford that big, rubber dead body advertised on the back cover for 500 bucks...but I've grown up. And this movie just doesn't sound like it's going to be any good. Kevin Smith banter?? MPAA praise for the movie?? Hardly any edits during the rating process???? That must mean it's really tame, bloodless, unscary, everything a good slasher flick shouldn't be. I'd go watch a free screening, but I don't think I'm going to waste five bucks on this...

    by cds

which is why they didn't say anything this time either. They don't commend films (or comment on them). Films don't pass inspection by MPAA. The MPAA doesn't cut anything, and they don't leave anything in. They don't tell the filmmaker what to cut. All they do is issue a rating. And they never, ever, talk about it. Therefore everything in this report should be considered garbage.

    by smilin'jack ruby

I am a HUGE fan of the "Friday the 13th" series. Big time. Huge. "Friday the 13th: The Final Conflict" is my favorite of the series (Crispin Glover gets laid!) and I recently watched all nine of them again for a random article. I have very high hopes for "Jason X" after interviewing some of the people involved, but am FLAMINGLY PISSED OFF that I won't get to see this movie for almost a year. It was supposed to come out last weekend on the 13th and, instead, "Lost Souls" came out, goddammit. I know that it was said that they were finishing some effects work, but I really wanted to see this movie this year, not next April and certainly not next August. And yeah, when I heard "Jason In Space," I didn't just think "Hellraiser: Bloodline," I also thought "Leprechaun 4" and "Fortress 2." But I will still see this movie the first moment I can. I am, honestly, looking more forward to "Jason X" than "Lord of the Rings" even though I know my expectations are far more likely to be dashed by "Jason X." I just wish New Line would pump some money into this franchise and release one every summer again like Paramount used to do. At this point, I don't even care about "Freddy vs. Jason," I want to see "Jason X," "Jason XI," "Jason XII," and on and on and screw that stopping at XIII nonsense.

I also have high hopes for this film, in fact, I probably won't even see LOTR, because that fantasy stuff with dwarves and wizards just never appealed to me. Hoddr back as Jason, kickin' ass in outer space though....now THAT appeals. If the U.S. release has been pushed all the way back to August, though.....when the hell will we get to see it in the U.K. ?

There's a website giving some details about Jason X over at www.crystallakeent.com some cool shots, including the ones Harry ran on this site, purporting to be amateur shots from a spy on set. (Yeah, like he sold the photos he took back to New Line !)

Best death in an F13 ? Gee.....it'd have to be the sleeping bag murder from VII, followed by knocking the boxer's head literally off his shoulders in VIII.

Am I going to pay to see this one? Maybe. I'm still surprised they have David Cronenberg, of all people, as one of the leads. Of course, he was great in "Blood and Donuts" (which might well be the only vampire film set at a donut shop; I love the Canadian film board!) Curious to see how that works out..

    Kevin Smith Banter????

    by easy rider

It's not even funny when Kevin Smith writes the junk that people salivate over. I can imagine how bad it sounds when someone tries to duplicate the "oh-so-hip-it's-funny" Gen X dialouge. Bad enough that there are people that try to imitate Tarantino, but he at least is talented, which explains why they are writing like him, but Kevin Smith? (shudders)

he can be entertaining...don't fucking say you didn't think clerks was entertaining, you fucking elitists, because you know you laughed! i'm still waiting for another good kevin smith movie to come out, though...cuz dogma was a disappointment. anyway, back to jason X. there is nothing new that can be done with the character. jason in space. okay, so here you have another movie about a pissed off spirit who won't leave his rotting body, because he's having too much fun turning 30 year old actors playing teenagers into sushi with his trusty blades, axes, pruning shears, whatever...and now he's roaming a spaceship. for fuck's sake, what's next? jason takes a job as a taxi driver, and falls in love with a 12 year old prostitute? jason gets sent back in time and leads the scottish on a futile attempt to gain sovereignty against foreign oppressors, one decapitated brit at a time? we're running out of ideas, folks. jason, RIP. hey...i wonder if jason X's release is being pushed back because of the renewed scrutiny on sex and violence by glory-seeking politicians? (lieberman, i hate you). are we expected to believe that the special effects still need tweaking, when Antichrist Lieberman is causing spineless Hollywood execs to cringe in horror at his influence? hmm...

Comment on Kevin Smith and Jason X

    by castor777

First bout Kevin Smith, he is a good writer, period. He isn't a good director in no sense and anyone could turn his screenplays into far better films than what he made them. I don't hold anything again Clerks though considering that it was very low budget and it was a directorial debut. Chasing Amy I like a lot but could of been done better if in the hands of a better director. But bottom line, I think he's a good writer but should no way in hell be imitated by other writers. As far as the director of our generation, that's Paul Thoams Anderson all the way. As for Jason X I hold no grudges to it because I'm not a true fan of the series. I do agree that the films aren't exactly scary and weren't meant to be, they were meant to be campy. I don't think any of the films in the series could be considered very scary, although the original was rather impressive low budget horror flick; but nowhere near the caliber of Evil Dead. But the series has been going on long enough, so let them do what they want with it. And for those that have a real problem with it enough to voice their opinions out about how crappy they think it's going to be, just don't go and see it.

    by marty mcsuperfly

Paul Thomas Anderson without a shadow of a doubt. Think of ANY director working today then think of their last two films. If you think they are better than Magnolia or Boogie Nights you'd be lying. Simple as that.

    A freaking comedy???

    by eyegore

I was actually thinking this might be good until Jason-Exeter comes on talking about how it's made for the fans and thus, it's a comedy. Fans of what?? Jason is horror, not comedy. I've been repeatedly disappointed by overhyped Jason movies. In Jason goes to new york he doesn't get there until the last half hour while most of the movie is wasted on a boatride. Jason goes to heel for what, 30 seconds at the end of the movie, if that? It was so forgettable I don't remember. This idea of Jason goes to space didn't sound good at all to me but I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but this shit about it being a comedy really blows. The best two Jason movies were Part 4 where Jason actually died (die! die! die! die!!), and part 7 (Jason versus the telekinetic bitch) where someone finally put up a good fight againt him. That was one hell of a fight. I loved it. And that's exactly why so many people have been waiting for Jason vs Freddy.

    JASON X

    by darth grego

Lighten up, people, if you are still taking these films seriously, you are missing the point. The object of Jason films is to count deaths and cheer the creative ones and yell out shit like, "He got the point!" They really should remake "Jason Takes Manhattan", tho, and actually FILM it in New York. That idea was full of silly potential and it was squandered. I'm waiting for a battle royal film where Jason, Freddy, Leatherface and the Shape duke it out. Or all the slashers versus the Universal classic monsters, with the classics whipping their sorry asses. Best Jason killing: part 7, wherein he squeezes a guy's head to crushed-aluminum can size. It's not that impressive in the film, but I saw the uncut version at a Fango Weekend of Horrors (Hodder bought the reel himself), and the uncut effect was hilarious and got huge cheers. Lots of bloody good fun!
