We’re getting six new episodes of “The X-Files” next year, and it’s shaping up to be a real greatest-hits package.
Sculler and Muldey are back. So is Walter Skinner, The Lone Gunmen and the Cigarette-Smoking Man.
But Vince Gilligan is too busy with “Better Call Saul” to join Spooky & Co. this time around. Original “X-Files” mastermind Chris Carter is supervising the 2016 revival, launching Jan. 24.
The last time we saw Mulder and Scully, in the 2008 “X-Files” movie, the duo was depicted no longer in the FBI’s employ. Mitch Pileggi reprises his Walter Skinner role in the miniseries, and I confess I’m curious to know if Mulder and Scully rejoined the agency and, if so, what managed to lure both of them back at the same time.
New to the franchise next year are Joel McHale (“Community”), Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”) and Robbie Amell (“The Flash”).
