Hit-Girl's moving in next door to Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne in NEIGHBORS 2!

This past February, we learned that Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, and Nicolas Stoller were returning for a NEIGHBORS/BAD NEIGHBOURS 2 (“I’ve got more taste in my penis.”), which would have a sorority moving in next door to the Radner couple instead of the first film’s Efron-led frat. Now we have a pretty good idea of who is going to be heading up that sorority.

Chloe Moretz is in talks to sign on as the fourth lead in the sequel. While the reports maintain that the plot is being “kept under wraps” and such, this fits into the “a sorority instead of a fraternity” plotline we’d previously heard. Moretz is now college-aged (feel old?), and while she doesn’t have the upperclassman maturity that mid-20s Efron possessed, she has more than enough attitude and presence to play the leader of a household of young women.

She could also be playing a younger member of the sorority, similar to the role Craig Roberts played in the original (“Assjuice”). Or they might not actually be going with the sorority plotline at all. But it seems fairly obvious, no?

Regardless, I’m a Moretz fan, so this is good news to me. I disagree with Variety’s claim that this “will mark her first comedy”; aside from her well crack comic timing and charisma as Mindy Macready a.k.a. Hit-Girl, she’s consistently made me laugh in (500) DAYS OF SUMMER, DARK SHADOWS, and her run on 30 ROCK, and helped make her segment in MOVIE 43 one of the more watchable bits of that film (pretty sure at least that one was a comedy).

I’m not convinced that NEIGHBORS/BAD NEIGHBOURS warranted a sequel, but if we have to watch the Radners deal with aging and the difficulties of raising a young kid, I’m glad Moretz is gonna be on hand to spice things up a bit.

NEIGHBORS/BAD NEIGHBOURS 2 will put dolls before balls this time on May 13th, 2016.
