Conspiracy-obsessed trio The Lone Gunmen, killed off in the almost-last episode of the original “The X-Files,” will be back on next year’s six-hour miniseries revival of the series.
Byers, Frohike and Langly join The Cigarette Smoking Man, who was killed in the final episode of the original series and will be joining Mulder, Scully and Skinner for the new version launching Jan. 24.
In the pilot of Fox’s short-lived “The Lone Gunmen” spin-off series, aired March 4, 2001, the trio helped narrowly prevent a jetliner from crashing into the World Trade Center. Talk about your conspiracies.
Not yet announced for the “X-Files” revival is Zuleikha Robinson, grafted into the 2001 series because the Gunmen themselves were not considered sexy enough to star alone in a Fox spin-off.
New to the franchise next year are Joel McHale (“Community”), Lauren Ambrose (“Six Feet Under”) and Robbie Amell (“The Flash”).
