Guillermo del Toro's latest, CRIMSON PEAK, is due to hit theaters in October. But that's not the only thing the director has been working on. Global News (via Birth.Movies.Death) is reporting that del Toro is set to go immediately into production on PACIFIC RIM 2 after his Gothic horror tale opens.
Principal photography on the sequel is said to be taking place in Toronto starting in November. It is also rumored that the film is being referred to as MAELSTROM, though, whether that's a working title or an actual title to the film remains unclear.
Whatever it's called, the good news is that del Toro is gearing up for some more big, bad, Kaiju action.
Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman are all said to be returning. We don't know much about the plot, but it is rumored that this film will focus more on the Kaiju than the first film did.
I can't wait to hear more as the film nears production. PACIFIC RIM was tons of fun, and I'm on board for pretty much anything Guillermo del Toro puts out there.
