James Horner’s Score For SOUTHPAW Is Now Online…

This was evidently brought online a week or two ago, but got absolutely no notice and slid under many folk’s radars.

Time to change that.

The score for SOUTHPAW - directed by Antoine Fuqua (THE EQUALIZER, TRAINING DAY) and scripted by Kurt Sutter (THE SHIELD, SONS OF ANARCHY) has made its way to YouTube.  This is significant as it represents some of the very last work we’ll heart from James Horner, who was killed in an airplane crash on June 22.

In THIS interview with a fansite dedicated to the composer and his work, Horner discussed his SOUTHPAW score, saying…

…it’s just a movie I've never done before. I thought it would be really challenging again. It'll be really edgy, but it will be very simple. No big orchestras.

Here’s the score’s opening track…

Clicking the ‘Playlist’ tab will reveal further tracks from July 24 soundtrack release.

I sure do love most of Horner’s work.  His absence from the film score landscape will leave a painful, gaping hole that can never be refilled…
