Kate Winslet is set to bring some style to the Outback in THE DRESSMAKER. The film is adapted from the novel by Rosalie Ham. Set in 1950s Australia, it tells the story of Tilly Dunnage (Winslet), a woman who escapes the monotony of life in the small town where she was raised to explore a life of excitement and glamour as a stylish dressmaker in Europe. When she returns home years later, she faces gossip and scandal.
Co-written by P.J. Hogan (MURIEL'S WEDDING) and directed by Jocelyn Moorehouse (PROOF), the film costars Liam Hemsworth, Judy Davis, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Snook, and a ton of fabulous dresses. THE DRESSMAKER opens in Australia on October 22nd, but no word on a U.S. release date just yet. In the meantime, check out the trailer.
