Hawkman Is Joining All Of The Other DC Heroes On The CW!!

I am – Hercules!!

We've known for some time that iconic DC superhero Hawkgirl would be a component of the CW’s “Flash”/”Arrow” spin-off “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” but at Comic Con Saturday executive producer Marc Guggenheim announced that she’ll be joined by her male superhero counterpart Hawkman.

I gather this will be the Golden Age Hawkman, Carter Hall, the Earthman and explorer – as opposed to the Silver-Age Hawkman, Katar Hol of the planet Thanagar.

No word yet on who will play the Winged Warrior, who uses a gravity-defying metal to help keep himself aloft.

In other CW superhero news, actress Caity Lotz (Stephanie on “Mad Men”) confirmed her “Arrow”/”Legends of Tomorrow” character Sara “Canary” Lance was brought back to life by the Lazarus Pit. “We’ve seen on Arrow, the people who go into the pit aren’t the same person who come out,” she noted. “There’s the consequences of that now, and I at least want her to go nuts off her rocker.”

“Legends of Tomorrow,” launching at midseason, follows time-traveler Rip Hunter (now with an English accent, just like Doctor Who) as he gathers up a boatload of DC superheroes to battle DC’s immortal supervillain Vandal Savage.

Reprising their roles from “The Flash”:
Victor Garber as Martin “Firestorm” Stein;
Wentworth Miller as Leonard “Captain Cold” Snart; and
Dominic Purcell as Mick “Heatwave” Rory.

Reprising their roles from “Arrow”:
Brandon Routh as Ray “The Atom” Palmer; and
Caity Lotz as Sara “White Canary” Lance.

Playing new-to-the-Berlantiverse roles:
Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter;
Ciara Renee as Kendra “Hawkgirl” Saunders; and
Franz Draeh as Jay “Probably Firestorm” Jackson.

Greg Berlanti, writer of the DC Comics movie “Green Lantern” and creator of current TV versions of “Arrow,” “The Flash” and the fast-approaching “Supergirl,” last month named Phil Klemmer showrunner of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

Klemmer served as creator/showrunner of another Berlanti show with “tomorrow” in the title, “The Tomorrow People,” and as writer-producer on two other short-lived Bertlanti shows: “Golden Boy” and “Political Animals.”

From the press release:

“When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S Legends Of Tomorrow stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S Legends Of Tomorrow is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).”
