IMDb just says "pre-production."
And there’s no official word from Disney or Lucasfilm, but the Star Wars Aficionado website tells us that “Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One” has already been before cameras for weeks!
The report claims:
1) Felicity Jones (“The Theory of Eveything,” “True Story”) has been busy filming scenes involving air-to-ground jungle bombardment.
2) Scenes have been shot aboard Death Star sets, apparently re-dressed versions of sets J.J. Abrams originally utilized for this coming December’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” movie.
If you’ve been napping under a rock, “Rogue One,” directed by Gareth Edwards (last year’s “Godzilla”), is a prequel to the original 1977 “Star Wars,” dealing with rebel efforts to convey Death Star blueprints to Leia Organa. Chris Weitz (“About A Boy,” “The Golden Compass”) drafted the screenplay.
Jones’ co-stars are said to include Diego Luna (“Elysium”), Forest Whitaker (“The Butler”) and Ben Mendelsohn (“The Dark Knight Rises”).
