Another Wallflower may join the HARRY POTTER-verse!

Looks like Emma Watson won’t be the only PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER cast member to have held a wand and uttered some gibberish.

Ezra Miller is in talks to play Kredan, “a person with magical powers,” in David Yates’ FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. He joins Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Katherine Waterstone as American-born Tina, presumably a Muggle. Yates also allegedly wants Josh Gad or Michael Cera to play Scamander’s rival, Jacob, and actress/musician Alison Sudol to play Queenie, Tina’s younger sister.

As for Miller, this could do just as much to bolster his burgeoning popularity as his role as THE FLASH. The young actor made a huge impression in WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, and has a showy supporting role in TRAINWRECK, but these two WB flicks would expose him to an all-new audience of youngsters that may or may not be as taken with him as the critics who laud his work. I find him surprisingly appropriate for this world: he has a weird, unearthly quality that should serve him well when wrapping his mouth around those goofy-sounding spells and such, and his intensity should serve as a nice counterpoint to Redmayne’s steadfast British magizoologist.

The film’s coming together quickly to meet the release date next fall, but they still have to cast the four child leads, as well as officially locking down the actors I’ve just mentioned. Let’s see if Miller hangs around.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM answers that question (psst: New York) on November 18th, 2016.
