Chris Provenzano, who scripted the acclaimed Robert Duvall/Bill Murray movie “Get Low” before he spent the last five years writing “Justified,” has just been hired by AMC to develop another series based on another Elmore Leonard work.
This is Provenzano’s second trip to AMC, for which he served as an early “Mad Men” staffer and wrote the first-season episodes “The Hobo Code” and “Shoot.”
The AMC project, set in 1893, will be based on Leonard’s novel “Gunsights,”
Elmore Leonard fiction also served as the basis of “Out of Sight,” “Get Shorty,” “Jackie Brown, “3:10 To Yuma,” “Hombre,” “The Big Bounce,” “The Moonshine War,” “Valdez Is Coming,” “The Ambassador,” “Stick,” “52 Pick-Up,” “Touch,” “Maximum Bob," “Be Cool,” “Killshot,” “Freaky Deaky,” and “Karen Sisco.”
“Justified” was based on the Leonard story “Fire In The Hole.”
AMC’s current Western, “Hell on Wheels,” airs its final episodes next summer.
