Hilarious malcontents Charles Grodin and Lewis Black will play Carl Shapiro and Ezra Merkin, respectively, two investors and associates of Bernie Madoff who ended up having to reimburse those victimized by Madoff’s ruinous hedge-fund scheme.
Shapiro is 102, which means he was 95 when Madoff was arrested in 2008. Grodin, who recurs as Dr. Bigelow on FX’s “Louie,” is a spry 80 years of age.
Richard Dreyfuss and Blythe Danner play Madoff and his wife Ruth in the project, which also stars longtime “Chopped” casting coordinator Jamie Carroll (“Person of Interest”), Danny Deferrari (“Pan Am”), Adam Trese (“Push”), Lyne Renee (“Strike Back”), Annie Heise (“Legit”).
Fictionalized versions of Madoff are all over TV. Notably, a whole season of "Damages" centered on a Madoff-like family and one of the leads in “2 Broke Girls” is the daughter of a Madoff-like character.
