Clint Eastwood To Take On A Considerably Less Controversial American Hero With SULLY

Chesley Sullenberger

Jeremy here...

It sure is nice to have Clint Eastwood back making movies that are properly lit. Now let's see if he can make a movie that isn't crazily divisive.

According to Variety, the legendary filmmaker is attached to direct Warner Bros' biopic of heroic pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger. Sully is the badass who landed the crippled US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in New York City, saving the lives of every single passenger onboard the plane. It's a pleasant change of pace from Eastwood's previous film, AMERICAN SNIPER; unlike Chris Kyle, there's zero rational controversy surrounding Sully's exploits.

But aside from Sully's bumpy landing on January 15, 2009, is his life all that interesting? Producer Frank Marshall seems to think so, as he's been developing an adaptation of Sullenberger's memoir HIGHEST DUTY: MY SEARCH FOR WHAT REALLY MATTERS (co-authored by the late Jeffrey Zaslow) since 2010. Todd Komarnicki (2007's PERFECT STRANGER... starring Bruce Willis and Halle Berry... in case you forgot... and you probably did) will write the screenplay. There's no word as to who might play Sullenberger, but allow me to be the 1,549th person to suggest Harrison Ford. Frank Marshall might have a bit of experience working with that fella.
