This Week's SATURDAY SHORTS: Time Travel, Mind Swapping, and Medieval Predator Action!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, your pal Muldoon here with this week's selection of kickass films created by AICN readers like you and me. It's the last Saturday of May, the beginnings of an incredible blockbuster season, and while I hope you have a chance to see them all - I'm glad you're here in the heart of AICN's screening room to see what else is out there. (Mad Max: Fury Road... my god, what a larger than life piece of awe.) You might have heard of us folks down here in Texas getting a little rain, or a lot actually, so staying in and watching a handful of great films sounds pretty great personally speaking, and this week's lineup is grade A. So let's jump on in, let's fullscreen each film and crank that volume up.

Go grab yourself some popcorn, lock your kids in a closet, kill the lights, relax and check out this little weekly film fest we've got ourselves here:

PREDATOR: DARK AGES

TRT: 27:18

First up is a fresh spin on a franchise we all love, PREDATOR. While I consider myself a big PREDATOR fan, filmmaker James Bushe takes the cake. Calling this short a fan film is a tad dismissive as this film feels massive, actually expanding the world of Predator and combining two cool concepts "What if a Predator hunted humans on Earth back when knights were around?" "Set during the Crusades, the faith & fighting skills of a group of Templar Knights is put to the test when they encounter the Predator. Their battle is the thing Myths and Legends are born from." If you're as impressed as I am, then head on over to Bushe's website and see what else he's got going on (hint: a lot).

IMPRINTS

TRT: 19:18

Next up is an incredible film written and directed by Anthony Sellitti. There's actually a pretty cool story behind the film - as it was produced by Dan Harris who you might know wrote X2, SUPERMAN RETURNS, and the new X MEN: APOCALYPSE. Anthony was Dan's assistant and now is co-writing quite a bit with the man. I'm very much a fan of this short and hope to see a full feature version, which they indeed are working on. "Imprints is a science-fiction drama written and directed by Anthony Sellitti. It tells the story of Michael, a man who transfers his late-wife's consciousness into a host body using illegal means." Now head on over to Anthony's website and check out more stuff from the guy!

BACK TO THE FUHRER

TRT: 4:57

Let's switch gears and jump into some laughs with Michael Shlain and Butcher Bird Studios. "Two unlikely time travelers get more than they bargained for on their quest to change the course of history."

CRIME AND PUNISHMENT

TRT: 4:32

To wrap us out, we've got a goofy comedy from Jerry and Allan of IAmAFatLoad.com. "Two detectives go on the hunt, seeking justice for Mia who was assaulted deep in the woods back in 1981." If you like Jerry's humor, perhaps you'll be into his podcasts over at the iamafatload.com site.

Okay ladies and gents, that wraps up this week's shorts. I hope to see you back next week!

might dig. Have a great rest of your weekend and enjoy Memorial Day while at the same time keeping in mind the sacrifices men and women have made so you have a better life.

If you have a short and think it belongs here or are on the fence about whether to send it in, please do send it in - I'd love to see what you've put together. I've already seen hundreds of fresh new filmmakers' shorts and like any good addict, I need more!

Shoot me an email at "Mike@aintitcool.com"

In the subject line include:

“SHORTS” + “Your film’s name” + “The film’s genre”

Then, in the body of the email, please include a synopsis of the film and any contact information you might think I need or would want published. The more info you send my way, the more info there is to put with your short.

Please don’t feel the need to submit multiple times.

Remember, the filmmakers might still be in the audience, so feel free to share your thoughts in Talkbacks below. (JUST DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE). I picked them, so you know I think highly of all of these, but how about you fine folks? How'd you like 'em?

BY THE WAY: If you've had a short featured here, that means that I personally am a fan of your work, so feel free to shoot me any kind of news on new projects/films/whatever. I can't say I'll be able to help or in what capacity, but I'm interested in your work and am always down to see more! (Keep making cool stuff, everyone!)
