“Certainly, we didn’t bring it back with the idea of ending it," David Duchovny says of the six new hours of “X-Files” launching on Fox in January.
The actor tells Entertainment Weekly he’s open to playing Spooky Mulder again if Fox decides next year’s episodes attract a big enough audience.
So I gather Mulder and his FBI partner Dana Scully will survive the beasties they encounter in 2016.
“I would be open to doing another cycle. I don’t know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don’t know that [c-star Gillian Anderson] could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this.”
Duchovny says he cried when he read the first page of the first new “X-Files” teleplay since 2002. “It was just so strange to see the names on the page.” (No word on whether the first page of 2008’s “X-Files: I Want To Believe” provoked the same reaction.)
