Elektra Natchios, star of her own movie a decade ago, appears to be getting sucked into the Disney/Marvel onscreen universe that now contains Peggy Carter, Phil Coulson, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Luke Cage, Steve Rogers, Matt Murdock, Peter Parker, Peter Quill, Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Thor and so many others. (But not Charles Xavier and not Reed Richards. Not yet.)
A couple of audition tapes surfaced online (then disappeared), reportedly depicting a pair of young women auditioning for the character, who apparently will serve as a component of the second season of Netflix’s “Daredevil.”
In the comics Elektra, introduced in a 1981 issue of “Daredevil,” is a ninja assassin of Greek descent who falls for the blind superhero.
Jennifer Garner played Elektra Natchios in two big-screen endeavors: 2003’s “Daredevil” and 2005’s “Elektra.” The latter was co-written by Zak Penn, who went on to pen “X-Men: The Last Stand” and the Ed Norton “Incredible Hulk.”
Season one of “Daredevil” was overseen by a pair of former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” writers – Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight. The showrunner on season two is a third former “Buffy” writer, Douglas Petrie.
