Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy: No Script Or Timeline Yet For Next INDIANA JONES!!

I am – Hercules!!

Blockbuster season is upon us, and with it comes interviews with the many involved with blockbusters. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy offered a brief but telling tidbit in a new interview with Vanity Fair:

Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

A couple of days ago, a newly pubished GQ interview with actor Chris Pratt discussed the rumor that he was being courted to play a Younger Indiana Jones. Pratt said he had plenty of encounters with Steven Spielberg during the production of “Jurassic World,” both before and after the rumor surfaced. "I just didn't bring it up and he didn't bring it up," said Pratt, who says he was never offered the opportunity to play the iconic adventuring archaeologist.

And no wonder. With no script, it’s almost certain Spielberg has not committed to another Indiana Jones adventure, and is therefore in no position to talk about the part with Pratt.

Upshot?  The lack of a script and timeline tells me another Indiana Jones picture is nothing we’ll see soon.  Will Harrison Ford, who turns 73 this summer, be available when the next script is finished? Will Spielberg, who turns 69 in December, ever circle back to the franchise, whether it’s with Ford or a younger actor in the role?
