Let's gear up for MAD MAX: THE WASTELAND next! Plus other George Miller notions...

Hey folks, Harry here...   Today, from TheQandAPodcast.com our good Doctor George Miller let drop the title of the sequel to the utterly spectacular reignition of the MAD MAX series, FURY ROAD.   The title will be MAD MAX: THE WASTELAND.   Very Evocative!   Killer title, can't wait!   But we'll have to. MAD MAX: FURY ROAD's budget of $150 million looks safe, with FURY ROAD doing $110 million worldwide on its opening weekend, and with folks that have seen it becoming followers of the film, as rabid as those following IMMORTAN JOE... well, I imagine folks will be rewatching the hell out of the film.   At least I hope so, because we absolutely need MAD MAX: THE WASTELAND soon!

At the Austin screening that George Miller had of the film last week, he talked about how he left the Wasteland when his kids came on the scene, but now that they're all off to college, he can really refocus his energies.   I got to talk with the good Doctor at the afterparty for a good long time.   At one point, I asked him what Genre he would most like to tackle that he hasn't yet - and without hesitation he said MUSICAL.   Then, given how he talks about cutting action like a dance scene...  Hell, I'm down.   But also, I asked him about what kinda toys the man had as a kid and he really didn't.   His focus was Comic Books, specifically D.C. comics...  but then he hesitated and said, "But I loved this one most, THE PHANTOM" and I responded with how much I loved Lee Falk's PHANTOM.   So - let's see what happens with George.   In my opinion, I would rather see his energies focused upon more MAD MAX stories, because they are so uniquely his own.   This latest film is overflowing with detail and artistry and just hardcore asskicking from frame one to the end!

So - if you're dying to explore the Wasteland in-between the films - I'd recommend rewatching the 3 classics and this latest film as often as the desire strikes.   For me, just watching the opening narration of ROAD WARRIOR makes me fall madly deeply in love with Miller's world more than anything:

If after all of that, you're still hankering for more MAD MAX, then September 1st, 2015 is a date you're going to want to remember.   That's when we get a look at MAD MAX in the wider world of the Wasteland - that seems to have spectacle awaiting us that goes beyond even what we've seen in FURY ROAD.   I'm not usually a gamer...  but I've wanted a driving mayhem game based on MAD MAX forever, and FURY ROAD has me amped through the roof.   Besides - if it looks like this...  and kicks ass...   I can't wait!

Until then - Keep it cool,

Harry
