Houston! Comicpalooza Is Crazy Huge This Year! Jeremy Renner! Stan Lee! Rosario Dawson! Hayley Atwell! So Much More!

Nordling here.

Comicpalooza was barely a blip on the radar a short six years ago; now it's Houston's largest comic book/gaming/movie/anime/pop culture event, thanks to the tireless efforts of its volunteer staff and con creator John Simons, who busts his butt year round to bring top-notch talent, artists, writers, and entertainers here to town.  It's been my pleasure to cover Comicpalooza for the past few years, watching it grow, and I thank John and his team for letting me be a part of it.

This year is the biggest yet.  It's crazy just how much talent is going to be attending - Stan Lee, Jeremy Renner, Rosario Dawson, Hayley Atwell, George Takei, Chloe Bennet, the cast of GOTHAM, Peter Mayhew, Jason Isaacs, Henry Winkler, Jackie Earle Haley, Marky Ramone... hell, freaking GWAR will be there. We'll also get comic writers and artists, like Kevin Eastman, Simon Bisley, Peter David, Sam de la Rosa, and novelists such as Raymond Feist, Jonathan Maberry, Mercedes Lackey, and many more.  There will be gaming panels, artist panels, writing panels, and celebrity panels.  It's packed this year.

The insanity starts next Friday and doesn't stop until Memorial Day.  I'll be on the floor, along with my AICN Tabletop editor Darryl "Abstruse" Mott, and I'll also be on Periscope trying to catch everything I can.  We've even got AICN alumni attending - C. Robert "Massawyrm" Cargill will be doing book signings and talking all things SINISTER and his works at his panel.  8th Dimension Comics And Games will be throwing a party Saturday night, celebrating women geekdom.

A really special event that I hope to attend is Jackie Earle Haley bringing his directorial debut, CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES, starring John Travolta and Dan Stevens, to screen at Comicpalooza, an unprecedented world premiere event, followed by a Q&A with Jackie Earle Haley and star Edi Gathegi.  I'm very excited to see what Haley brings - Kelly Leak comes back to Houston!  Too bad the Astrodome's shut down!  (That's a BAD EWS BEARS IN BREAKING TRAINING joke.)

Tickets for 4 day passes and single day passes are available at Comicpalooza's website and you can also get a list of attendees, panel and event schedules, and more information about the event.  Every year it gets bigger and bigger - last year attendance was over 20000, and I anticipate a lot more this year.  I hope to see you at the Gorge R. Brown onvention Center next weekend.

Nordling, out.
