Showtime’s David Lynch-Helmed TWIN PEAKS Revival Will Now Be Longer Than Nine Hours!!

I am – Hercules!!

Bonus!

Showtime on Friday announced its new “Twin Peaks” – with David Lynch back aboard to direct all episodes – will be longer than the nine episodes originally announced:

"Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected,” said Showtime president David Nevins in a late Friday press release. “David [Lynch] will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”

There was no specificity with regard to how MUCH more than nine hours, but it's fun to contemplate numbers like 10. 12 and 15.

Showtime originally announced the new nine episodes in October. The series would pick up the story a quarter-century after FBI special agent Dale Cooper’s doppelganger began mashing his head into a Great Northern Hotel mirror.

In January Showtime announced it had signed Kyle MacLachlan to reprise the role of Cooper.

But the following March Lynch made it be known to an Australian crowd that the new “Peaks” may not be going forward due to “complications” with the filmmaker’s contract to do the show, a contract Lynch said at the time he had not signed.

On April 5, Lynch tweeted that he had decided not to go forward with the Showtime revival: “After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.”

But Friday Lynch tweeted that he was back aboard the project, still due to hit Showtime in 2016: "Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ..... It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network."
