DAVID LYNCH IS HEADING BACK TO TWIN PEAKS!!

In what is perhaps the best possible news to kick our weekend off with, David Lynch had this to say re: the Showtime TWIN PEAKS reunion-

You may remember that Lynch last tweeted that “After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.” The word from Showtime was that negotiations were still ongoing, but that Lynch and Mark Frost had delivered scripts that were above the budget they were previously allotted. Before they could renegotiate the new budget, something went awry and Lynch felt that things had gone belly-up. That led the cast of the original series (sans Kyle MacLachlan and Ray Wise) to record this video in protest:

But thank the angels that the talks have been hashed out, and Lynch feels confident enough to publicly announce his return to the series.

As many have noted, there were predictions made in the actual series (“I’ll see you in 25 years.”) alluding to a continuation of the narrative in 2016. I was concerned that these delays, whether they killed the project or not, would force them to push the show back into 2017, but now it seems like the promise uttered by Sheryl Lee will indeed be fulfilled. Time for old Coop (who, it should be said, looks way better in actuality than the show predicted he would) to finally leave the Black Lodge!

Who cares what TWIN PEAKS without David Lynch is like? We’ll never have to know!!
