Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. There's a lot of cool stuff on the horizon movie-wise... new flicks from Scorsese, the Coens, Spielberg and a seemingly neverending cycle of Star Wars, Marvel and DC movies. Now it's time to add another title to the stack of my most anticipated movies in development.
I was one of the lucky few to get to see Goon on a big screen with an audience and it played like gangbusters. It was a shame that the hockey comedy didn't get a big theatrical push, but it was so good that it didn't get lost in its VOD distribution. It's one of my favorite movies to show people and I'm not alone in that. The cult of Goon has spread, spread enough so that they're moving on a sequel.
THR is reporting that Jay Baruchel who produced, co-wrote and appeared in the first film, will be behind the camera for the sequel. Yep, he will be directing Goon 2 and Seann William Scott will be back as Doug "The Thug" Glatt.
Scott absolutely killed it as the soft hearted nice guy brawler ("Garbage blows in my face sometimes") the first time around and I'm beyond excited to see him back as this character.
Congrats, Jay. Don't fuck it up. We're all counting on you to make us not feel like sleeping with a bunch of guys.
