HONEYMOON Director to Take On THE CRAFT!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Rumors of a reboot of THE CRAFT have been circulating off and on for the past couple of years, but now it looks like there might actually be some movement on the project. THR reports that Leigh Janiak will direct, co-writing the script with Phil Graziadei.

If you are unfamiliar, THE CRAFT tells the story of a group of witches whose powers suddenly increase with the arrival of a new girl at school. She is adopted into their group, and everything seems hunkey dorey, until one of the group starts taking her talents to a dark place and failing to respect the laws of magik.

Under most circumstances, I wouldn't be even the slightest bit interested in a remake of THE CRAFT. I love that movie. I loved it as a teenager, I love it to this day. I STILL aspire to be Fairuza Balk when I grow up, and I still like to imagine that if I concentrate hard enough and call enough corners, I too can possess the powers of Manon and bend the rules of nature to my whim (for the forces of good, of course).

But despite all that, this news has me intrigued. Janiak is a director I am dying to see more from, and I am really interested to see what her take on the story would be. If you haven't seen her debut film HONEYMOON, I highly recommend you check it out on Netflix. It's an incredibly effective story, and a great first effort. I am really curious to see what she would do here.

What do you guys think? Would you be open to a new version of THE CRAFT, in the right hands?
