THE INCREDIBLES is a film very close to my heart.
For my money, it remains one of the best superhero pictures ever made - even when factoring in all of the Marvel and DC stuff that’s going on now.
An advance screening of the movie also marks the first true ‘date’ I had with the woman I’ve now been with for nearly 11 years. It’s also a favorite of the child we had together. Now 8 years old, he asks at least once a month, “Are they gonna make an INCREDIBLES 2?” A poignant cycle.
The notion has, indeed, been bounced about for some time - hinted at or alluded two obliquely by folks at Disney and Pixar. But it always seemed like little more than a…possibility. An indistinct ghost, waiting to be dragged into the living world. DESPITE it’s official announcement last year.
It now seems this is about to change. Speaking with Collider, INCREDIBLES maestro Brad Bird elaborates on the status of this proposed sequel.
“….I have pages, a bunch of pages. I had a lot of ideas for the original Incredibles that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in Incredibles. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie…”

BIRD: Yeah. It feels like it to me. Yeah.
