A Deadline source reports that Fox’s “Minority Report” is hiring staff, and it’s hard to remember a project that got that kind of network commitment without going to series.
Fox formally announces its 2015-2016 plans on Monday -- but those plans are certain to be leaked this coming weekend or sooner.
The TV version of “Minority Report,” set a decade after the 2002 Tom Cruise movie, stars Stark Sands (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as brothers Dash and Arthur, who shared the precog tank with Agatha, played in the movie by Samantha Morton. (Morton was reportedly pursued to reprise the role of Agatha for the pilot, but Laura Regan -- who played Harry Crane’s wife in six early episodes of “Mad Men” -- wound up snagging that part for the “Minority” pilot.)
Dash will be drawn back into the exciting world of crime solving by a hot detective with a troubled past played by Meagan Good (who also starred as a detective in ABC’s already forgotten 2013 undercover series “Deception”).
Max Borenstein, who scripted last year’s blockbuster “Godzilla” movie, wrote the pilot for “Minority Report,” but its showrunner will be Kevin Falls, who masterminded NBC’s short-lived but beloved time-travel series “Journeyman.”
Fun fact: Comedy Central’s “Nightly Show” was originally titled “Minority Report,” but backed away from that title as the Fox project became a contender for the coming season.
