STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: ROGUE ONE picks up two strays from THE HUNGER GAMES and NIGHTCRAWLER!

Oh, this guy’s definitely playing Porkins. No question.

The Wrap has reported that Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed are in talks to join Gareth Edwards STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: ROGUE ONE in two of “the ensemble roles”.

Claflin’s best known for playing the cocky former concubine-to-the-stars, Finnick, in the latter HUNGER GAMES movies, as well as Kristen Stewart’s love interest in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Finnick had plenty to do in MOCKINGJAY PART 1, and it’s not a surprise they’re snapping him up; he’s a good-looking guy with charisma, and he’s the best looking male they’ve got onboard, so along with Felicity Jones, the two have got the eye candy factor covered.

Ahmed, a British actor, is less known, but has appeared in FOUR LIONS and CENTURIAN, and totally KILLED IT as Jake Gyllenhaal’s sidekick in Dan Gilroy’s NIGHTCRAWLER last year. It was completely the kind of performance that would lead him to getting bigger, more high-profile roles, and I hope these talks work out, because he’d Ahmed would no doubt add color and personality to these proceedings.

Any cast featuring Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, and Riz Ahmed has my attention, but the fact that it’s for a STAR WARS-themed war/heist flick makes it even sweeter. This flick’s getting into second gear now, so expect a bunch more news re: ROGUE ONE in the following weeks/months.

STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY: ROGUE ONE is standing by on December 16th, 2016.
