ROGUE ONE director Gareth Edwards spoke with Flicks And The City about his upcoming film, the first in the newly rebranded “STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY” / stand-alone entries.
Much of what he says here was touched upon in Edwards’ STAR WARS Celebration presentation Sunday, but for those who weren’t there (or didn’t see it via other means), this video serves as a nice re-cap.
I think Edwards helming a SW film is a potentially great idea. My only misgiving is: he’s made two feature films - the rather ingenious, compelling, and surprisingly effective-for-its-budget MONSTERS, and last Summer’s GODZILLA movie. Which was impressively mounted and presented to be sure, but felt alarmingly devoid of energy. So...which Edwards will come to the table for ROGUE ONE?
We’ll find out next year, but here’s where his brain is at currently. Indeed, he does seem to be saying all the right things…
