Meeting new friends as an adult is hard - it's not as natural as it was when you were in college, and you seem to almost have to go out of your way to do it. Not to mention the fact that you have to try on all potential new friends to see if you're even friend compatable. It's like dating, but almost more awkward because there is no chance of sex. Until there IS a chance of sex, and then it gets even weirder.
And that's exactly what happens in THE OVERNIGHT, when a couple moves to LA and finds themselves having to acclimate and step WAY outside their comfort zone when they meet a family at the park and are invited over for a friendly dinner.
Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt at the neighborhood park, they gladly agree to join family pizza night at the home. But as it gets later and the kids go to bed, the family “playdate” becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up.
The film looks hilarious, and Schwartzman looks to be turning in an insane performance in this new trailer. The film comes from writer/director Patrick Brice, and is set to hit theaters on June 19th. What do you guys think?
