Game of Thrones 5.2 FAQ

What’s it called?
“The House of Black and White.”

Who’s responsible?
Teleplay is credited to series masterminds D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.

What says HBO?
“Arya (Maisie Williams) arrives in Braavos. Pod (Daniel Portman) and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) run into trouble on the road. Cersei fears for her daughter’s safety in Dorne as Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) seeks revenge for Oberyn’s death. Stannis (Stephen Dillane) tempts Jon. An advisor tempts Daenerys.”

Do the Sand Snakes visit The Mountain to avenge the death of their father, Prince Oberyn Martell?
The Snakes are mentioned but remain hidden.

Does this one start with a flashback as well?
No. It starts with Arya’s ship passing between the legs of the massive Titan of Braavos, an event depicted in book four, “A Feast For Crows.”

Does tonight’s episode have a flashback at all?
It does not.

Is Charles Dance back this week?
The opening titles on the screener: Peter Dinklage (Tyrion). Nikolai Coster-Waldau (Jaime). Lena Headey (Cercei). Kit Harington (Snow). Aidan Gillen (Baelish). Stephen Dillane (Stannis). Liam Cunningham (Davos). Indira Varma (Ellaria). John Bradley (Samwell). Sophie Turner (Sansa). Maisie Williams (Arya). Hannah Murray (Gilly). Conleth Hill (Varys). Jerome Flynn (Bronn). Michiel Huisman (Daario). Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei). Gwendoline Christie (Brienne). (FINAL NAME REDACTED).

So no Tywin, Margaery, Olenna, Melissandre, Tormund, Tommen, Greyjoy, Ramsay, Roose, Walder, Bran, Osha, Hodor, Edmure, or Blackfish in this one?
No.

Is the Khaleesi tempted with dragon-training lessons?
Not this week.

Does Stannis offer to make Jon Snow Warden of the North?
That would be telling.

Is Brienne in pursuit of Sansa?
She is.

Is Lancel, Robert Baratheon’s former squire and Cercei’s former lover, still lurking about?
Not this week. But he’ll be back quite soon.

Do we learn how long it will take Varys and Tyrion to get to Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, mother of dragons?
Maybe by season’s end? We learn they must first reach Volantis.

Now that Arya’s in Braavos, does she look up her old dancing instructor’s family?
She does not. Arya is headed to the titular House of Black and White. It is neither black nor white, but its entrance consists of one black door and one white door. When Arya knocks, a black guy emerges from the black door.

Is Baelish about to marry Sansa?
They’re still hanging out together. We get some clarification on Baelish’s intentions next week.

Does Sam have sex with Gilly this week?
Sam is busy with his books; Gilly is busy with Stannis’ daughter.

Does Brienne have sex with anyone?
She’s a little too busy kicking ass this week.

The big news?
A face we’ve not seen since season two returns.

What else is HBO not telling us?
Yes, that fellow in the promo is indeed “Deep Space Nine” icon Alexander Siddig, who joins the cast as Oberyn Martell’s older brother Doran. (Doran will not appear in the next two episodes.) Jaime Lannister is again given an assignment that will take him far from King’s Landing.

What’s great?
Brienne. “We only have one horse.” “Not him.”

What’s not so great?
The week-long wait for 4.3.

How does it end, spoiler boy?
The Khaleesi gets a visit from an old friend. (Hint: Not Jorah!)

9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.
