A teaser trailer has been released for a new horror film from Warner Bros. and Blumhouse, and it looks pretty damn frightening. THE GALLOWS tell the story of a group of high school drama students staging a play as a (rather morbid) honor of a past tragedy. You see, 20 years ago, a student accidentally hanged himself performing the same play, and the revival seems to have stirred up something menacing.
If the film does well, it could be the next big indie horror miracle story, ala THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT or PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. The directors, Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing shot some footage on a wing and a prayer and threw it up online, hoping to generate some interest. That interest came in the form of Jason Blum of Blumhouse, who has been behind some pretty stellar and successful horror films in recent years.
The trailer is pretty freaking incredible, relying on building a sense of doom and dread before unleashing the appropriately terrifying final footage.
THE GALLOWS opens July 10th. What do you guys think?
