The Wrap is reporting that Dominic Cooper, who played Iron Man’s rich inventor dad Howard Stark both in the first “Captain America” movie and on multiple episodes of “Agent Carter,” is close to signing to play the lead in the pilot for AMC’s comic-book-to-TV-series adaptation “Preacher.”
Ruth Negga, who has a major recurring role as an Inhuman on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD,” has long been cast as Tulip in the DC/AMC project.
For those unfamiliar, the Preacher comic book follows a clergyman who becomes possessed by an angel-demon creature with God-like powers.
Sam Catlin, who scripted 10 episodes of “Breaking Bad,” penned the “Preacher” pilot’s teleplay.
AMC ordered the project to pilot in December.
