If it ain't broke, leave 'er be! Marvel hires a couple of MCU vets to scribe AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR!!

When The Russo Bros. signed on to direct both parts of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, Jeremy speculated that Marvel would probably bring on his WINTER SOLDIER/CIVIL WAR screenwriters, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, as well.

According to Devin Faraci over at Badass Digest, they’re doing just that.

Faraci insists that the trades are just about to announce that McFeely and Markus have been signed as screenwriters for the next go-around with the nearly-full, all-star line-up of MCU heroes.

Aside from the three CAPTAIN AMERICA flicks, Markus/McFeely also co-created AGENT CARTER and worked on THOR: THE DARK WORLD for Marvel, as well as the three CHRONICLES OR NARNIA films, PAIN & GAIN, and the excellent, underrated LIFE AND DEATH OF PETER SELLERS HBO biopic. They clearly know how to stick with a franchise all the way through, and considering how closely interlinked this next slew of Phase Three MCU flick will probably be, their skills can only prove an asset in making them all feel both like individual stories and chapters of a singular, elongated narrative.

Now that Joss Whedon is reportedly on his way out of the Marvel game, they need reliable folks they can depend on to give them quality, signature product that fits snugly into their grandiose production plans, and these guys (like the Russos) have done a good job of proving their mettle thus far. If they can match Whedon’s level of spectacle, pathos, and, of course, amazing banter, then we should have another pair of excellent, massively epic AVENGERS flicks to look forward to.
