Welcome, foolish mortals! Your ghost host, Quint, here with some ghoulishly delightful news for us Haunted Mansion nuts. Guillermo del Toro's long-gestating Haunted Mansion movie seems to be moving forward at long last. When I was on the set of Crimson Peak I grilled Guillermo for info and he told me they were still fine-tuning the script. Being the world's biggest Haunted Mansion fan, Guillermo wouldn't move forward with just a good script, he said. It had to be perfect.
Since The Wrap just broke the news that Ryan Gosling will star in Guillermo's Haunted Mansion flick I assume that means Guillermo has the script he was searching for.
I'm torn right now. I'm both beyond excited to enter Guillermo's moldering sanctum and also terrified... not that he'll make a shitty movie, but that he's going to make a movie so good they'll change the ride, which is one of my favorite places on Earth. If they start adding Ryan Golsing animatronics to Haunted Mansion I'm gonna crack Madame Leota's crystal ball with my righteous anger!
No word on who Gosling is playing. Hapless guy who stumbles into the Haunted Mansion or will they be expanding the mythology already at play in the Disney rides? If so, I guess he'd be a good Master Gacey.
