 ORIGINAL APRIL 9 POST:

I am – Hercules!!

Ratings for “Agents of SHIELD” have not only been good enough to garner the series an inevitable third-season renewal, they’re been good enough for Marvel to consider another “SHIELD” TV spin-off.

Little is known about the new series beyond the fact that will follow characters introduced on the mother show.

Given ABC’s penchant for shows featuring female protagonists, I’d guess the network is giving serious thought to a show centered on SHIELD agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse, played by 5’11” Adrianne Palicki, a longtime “Friday Night Lights” vet who was cast as the lead in David E. Kelley’s “Wonder Woman” pilot a few seasons ago.

Senior “SHIELD” writer-producer Jeff Bell, co-showrunner on the last, best season of “Angel,” is co-writing the script with fellow “SHIELD” staffer Paul Zbyszewski. Zbyszewski, who created ABC’s terrible “Groundhog Day”-ish mid-season cop drama “Day Break,” is expected to serve as showrunner on the new “SHIELD” spin-off if if goes forward.

“Agent Carter,” a miniseries sequel to “Captain America” set in 1946, garnered weaker ratings than “Agents of SHIELD” (but better ratings than a lot of other ABC shows) and is currently considered a maybe for next season.

All 13 episodes of “Daredevil,” another series set in the Phil Coulson/Peggy Carter Marvel movie universe, hit Netflix in just a few hours. Netflix is already producing four other series set in that universe: “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders.”
