Hey folks, Harry here... Over at THE TRACKING BOARD they're reporting that Scarlett Johansson is Universal's top choice to swim in the Black Lagoon, she's the honey to draw THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. That doesn't mean she's signed or in discussions or even approached yet. Only that Universal is really keen for her to play the female lead in the last great monster of the classic Universal era. The CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON was and is magic. If you watch the original in 3D on your CREATURE Blu Ray - you'll discover a pretty amazing film. The most amazing is how alive the creature looks swimming in the water, how graceful.
For me, the most interesting part of The Tracking Board's article was Gary Ross' involvement as a Producer and Screenwriter, especially since Arthur Ross, who wrote the original is actually Gary Ross' father! I know he was once upon a time attached to direct, but not anymore. The project has nobody attached to direct. I just hope they don't radically reinvent the Creature... just bring it to life more. Well, let's keep our eye on this one, wonder how far along they are.
