David Lynch Says He Won’t Direct Showtime’s New TWIN PEAKS Series!! Showtime Says It Hopes To Change David Lynch’s Mind!!

I am – Hercules!!

David Lynch says he’ll not be directing Showtime’s third season of “Twin Peaks” after all.

“Showtime did not pull the plug on ‘Twin Peaks,'” Lynch tweeted on Sunday. “After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.”

Showtime hopes it can still lure Lynch to the project. Showtime announced in October that nine episodes, all to co-written and directed by Lynch, would air next year. “We were saddened to read David Lynch’s statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points,” Showtime said in a Easter Sunday press release. “Showtime also loves the world of ‘Twin Peaks’ and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.”

In January the channel confirmed Kyle MacLachlan would reprise the role of FBI special agent Dale Cooper for the project.

Last month Lynch revealed to an audience in Australia that "I'm not sure at this point if it’s happening" and that he had not yet signed a contract with Showtime.

Hours after last month's reports from Australia emerged, a source close to the new “Peaks” production told Entertainment Weekly that Showtime had already received all nine of the new scripts penned by co-creators Lynch and Mark Frost, that MacLachlan was signed, and that the production “is moving forward.”
