A new trailer has been released for the NWA biopic STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. Produced by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, the film will tell the story of the group that changed the face of hip hop.
In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these young men revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.
We saw a pretty awesome red-band trailer last month, but the new one shows some additional footage and hints at how F. Gary Gray's film will focus on the cultural impact of the group and their message, in addition to the undisputable impact they had on the music world.
The film stars O'Shea Jackson, Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Neil Brown, Jr., Aldis Hodge and Paul Giamatti.
