Per Variety, Toho’s resurrection of GODZILLA (not to be confused with Legendary/Gareth Edwards’ upcoming sequel to last Summer’s Americanized film) has found two key players.
Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi will helm the project.
Anno will also be responsible for the screenplay while Higuchi will oversee the picture’s VFX.

…a stunning work which I imagine helped the duo land this gig.
Anno was also a director and or writer on a number of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION projects, and Higuchi directed the forthcoming live action ATTACK ON TITAN picture, which looks rather impressive from what little we’ve seen thus far...
Expected to arrive in 2016, Toho’s GODZILLA will release nearly two years before that Legendary sequel stomps onto screens.
