We still don't have much in the way of official information on Gareth Edwards's ROGUE ONE, but it looks like Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn is set to join Felicity Jones in the first STAR WARS spinoff movie (due in theaters on December 16, 2016).
Chris Weitz wrote the screenplay for ROGUE ONE, based on an idea from ILM visual effects wizard John Knoll. Mendelsohn can currently be seen on Netflix's drama BLOODLINE (also starring Kyle Chandler), but as far as I'm concerned his best role is still Pope in David Michôd's excellent crime flick, ANIMAL KINGDOM. If I had to guess, I'd say Mendelsohn will portray ROGUE ONE's villain. We have no idea when this film is set, but one look at that face and you can't help but think he'd make a great, younger Grand Moff Tarkin.
