According to Latino Review's El Mayimbe, Marvel Studios' CAPTAIN MARVEL (due in theaters July 6, 2018), is coming together rather quickly. This is all unconfirmed at the moment, but some of it jibes with a few things I've heard over the last several days.
First off, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will almost certainly make her debut in THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. It's just a cameo, but with the film hitting international theaters on April 22nd, it's likely they've already cast the character and shot the scene in which she appears (which should be the final scene of the film, not the post-credits tease).
Secondly, Marvel has apparently hired a screenwriter, and are closing in on a director. Mayimbe says Marvel Comics writer Kelly Sue DeConnick was chasing the gig, but he's not sure if she got it. He's also heard that Jim Starlin, the creator of Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock, is on board as a consultant, which is excellent news. I'm a huge fan of Marvel getting the original writers involved whenever possible.
Everyone I've spoken to is pulling for Emily Blunt to get the part. I've seen EDGE OF TOMORROW, so this more than works for me.
