Daniel Espinosa Signs On For WB's Secretive MORNINGSTAR

Daniel Espinosa

Jeremy here...

Daniel Espinosa has been a director to watch since his stylish crime flick, SNABBA CASH (aka EASY MONEY), exploded out of Sweden in 2010. The film earned him a Go-Straight-to-Hollywood card, which resulted in the serviceable SAFE HOUSE starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. His next movie, CHILD 44, is due out on April 17th, and it's got all kinds of promise, what with its cast (Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Charles Dance, Jason Clarke, Vincent Cassel, Paddy Considine, etc.) and a screenplay by the great Richard Price (based on a book by Tom Rob Smith).

Warner Bros execs must've caught an early cut of CHILD 44, because, according to The Wrap, they've just attached Espinosa to their clandestine MORNINGSTAR. The film's premise is being kept under wraps, but it is evidently a "world building" exercise in the tradition of a "cold war thriller". The screenplay is by David Birke, who most recently wrote the script for Paul Verhoeven's forthcoming ELLE.
