Joseph Gordon-Levitt Heading to FRAGGLE ROCK!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Some of my earliest television memories were of Jim Henson's FRAGGLE ROCK. Between that and SESAME STREET, Henson and his creations shaped a huge huge part of my childhood, and I spent many hours with Red, Mokey, Gobo, Wembley, Boober, Doc, Sprocket and the Doozers.

With THE MUPPETS seeing a big screen revitalization, it seems only natural that the Fraggles should follow suit, and Variety reports that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be leading the project. He will be partnering with the Henson Company and New Regency to produce and star in a theatrical Fraggle movie.

The idea has been bouncing around for years, but Levitt seems to be taking it into the real of reality, and he is very excited to be doing so.

“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street,’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock,'” Gordon-Levitt said. “Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

No word on when this will be heading into production, and Gordon-Levitt has been a busy guy, having worked on THE WALK for Robert Zemekis, the upcoming Edward Snowden film with Oliver Stone, and a potential adaptation of Neil Gaimen's Sandman series.

What do you guys think? Are you ready for the Fraggles to greet a new generation? What do you think about the prospect of seeing the property in a feature-length film?
