Lee Daniels got folks talking yesterday when he posted an Instagram of himself and Eddie Murphy. Was this a signal that Murphy had been cast in Daniels's Richard Pryor biopic starring Mike Epps? Of course it was!
Entertainment Tonight has confirmed that Murphy is set to play some significant figure in Richard Pryor's life. The smart money is on Pryor's father, Leroy, but I'm hoping he'll go all NORBIT and replace Oprah Winfrey as Pryor's grandmother, Marie Carter.
Interestingly, Murphy was once attached to play Pryor for writer-director Bill Condon. He was later replaced by Marlon Wayans, whose audition tape was recently leaked to YouTube. That film never made it out of development (despite having an excellent script), but here's a taste of what it would've looked like.
