It appears Fish Mooney is losing more than an eye on “Gotham” this season.
Jada Pinkett-Smith, who plays Fish on the Fox hourlong, was asked on “Live with Kelly & Michael” this morning whether she was returning for season two, and the reply was “I don’t think so.”
“I did my year and I had a good time.”
Unlike most of the recurring characters on “Gotham,” Fish was never a component of the Batman mythos until the series launched. As with Qui-Gon Jinn in another prequel, there was no expectation that she would linger long.
But after Fish survived the wrath of vengeful mob boss Carmine Falcone a few episodes ago, there was concern she might survive beyond the first season.
From the get-go, I disparaged the actress’ Eartha Kittenish performance as the most annoying of the franchise, complaining that she plays the character as if she labored under the misapprehension that Pinkett-Smith – and not 15-year-old Camren Bicondova – earned the role of future Catwoman Selina Kyle.
“Gotham” begins airing its final four new episodes April 13.
