Is this sequence carrying the franchise too far into ‘Looney Tunes’ territory? Or, given the overall madness which has characterized the past few F&F entries, do such considerations even matter at his point?
Don’t get me wrong - on the whole I love this franchise, warts and all. I already own every one of these films, and am even looking forward to nabbing the upcoming Blu-ray compilation. I mean, it’s in a tire! A FAST AND THE FURIOUS TIRE!
However, this sequence doesn’t sit well with me - a bit too OTT in an already OTT universe, perhaps? A bit too undisciplined Spielberg (1941, KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL) or fallen Lucas, maybe? Although, I’m waiting until I see the whole film to pass final judgment - which will happen when FURIOUS 7 opens April 3.
