Ian McKellen Plays the Great Sherlock Holmes in MR. HOLMES Trailer!

Hey guys! Horrorella here...

Though his career has been filled with noteworthy and memorable characters, it only seems appropriate (and awesome) that Ian McKellen should step into the shoes of the world's greatest detective at least once.

MR. HOLMES joins the retired sleuth in his 93rd year, as he lives a comfortable, quiet life tending bees in the country, and living with his housekeeper and her young son. He comes to revisit one of his old cases, and through examination, learns a bit more about his own life and past.

The film is an adaptation of Mitch Cullen's A Slight Trick of the Mind, and sees McKellan once again collaborating with Bill Condon (GODS AND MONSTERS).

The trailer looks to offer a departure from the quick, acerbic itteration of the character that we have become accustomed to through the work of Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey, Jr. Apparently, the Holmes in this story is beginning to lose his memory, which will present an entirely different challenge from what we are used to seeing from the character. It really has the potential to be a fascinating character examination, as well as a heartfelt story.

What do you guys think?
