We first heard the name Ben Hardy in association with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE back in November, when he was announced as one of the contenders for the role of Young Scott Summers alongside two other also-rans, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamat. That part went to Tye Sheridan, but Hardy must’ve had a hell of an audition because he is also onboard Singer’s follow-up to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.
We don’t know who he’ll play, aside from that his ”part is significant to the X-MEN universe.” I find it funny that he looks so much like Angel that The Wrap had to specifically point out that he’s NOT up for that role, but that leaves most of us hard-pressed as to whose X-outfit Hardy will actually be donning.
I haven’t seen his work on EASTENDERS, but he’s amassed a nice little following across the pond due to his efforts, so the 24-year-old actor may very well have some chops to match that pretty face (I should take this moment to mention that those Singer jokes aren’t super-original at this point…).
Aside from Sheridan, Hardy joins new X-folk Sansa Stark (a.k.a. Sophie Turner) and Alexandra Shipp as Jean Grey and Storm, respectively. Of the Gifted Children who eventually become prominent instructors in the existing X-MEN films, we know who’s playing the young versions of everyone besides Colossus…and I could potentially see Hardy as a young Piotr Rasputin, no?
