J.J. Abrams discusses THE FORCE AWAKENS trailers, promises an "abundance of riches" and that he "hasn't shown anything"!!

We haven’t had official confirmation of when to expect the second trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS (though we all know it’s coming with AGE OF ULTRON, and possibly even weeks earlier at STAR WARS Celebration), but Junior Jedi Abrams talked with The Irish Examiner about his reluctance to share too much with the fanbase 10 months ahead of the film’s release.

“First of all, I’m always grateful that people would be asking. But the truth is it’s like we haven’t shown anything. There’s sort of an abundance of riches with the stuff we could put out so we’re just trying to make sure it’s as good as it could be before we put anything out. The disaster would be to race something out for the sake of making an impact and it being not as good as people deserve.

We don’t want to be coy but we have almost a year until the movie comes out, so we have to be smart about what we say and when. We’re always having conversations about it.

I would say thank you for being interested. Thank you for your patience and honestly, I can’t wait for you to see the film.”

We know he’s cagey with the whole marketing thing, especially after the “Is it Khan?” fiasco over STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, but this time I thoroughly understand. This is the Holy Cow of STAR WARS we’re talking about here, and he knows how closely every image and line will be speculated on from now until release date, so anything he puts out will either be perceived as a potential spoiler or calculated “misinformation”.

But I love the idea that there’s so many cool characters, moments, ideas, and designs to choose from that he doesn’t even know what he should reveal to the public first. I’d be fine not seeing another frame and getting it all at once this December…but we all know that’s not going to happen.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS shares with us mere mortals its abundance of riches on December 18th.
