Hey, remember that whole Chris Pratt/Indiana Jones thing? Spielberg wants in.

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yeah, so remember that hubbub about an Indiana Jones reboot of sorts that would star Chris Pratt as the whip-wielding adventurer? That rumor has only gained steam over the last couple months and now Deadline is reporting that their sources tell them that if it happens then you could very well see Steven Spielberg actually direct.

The assumption was that if it was going to be a James Bond style continuation that a new director would jump on, perhaps Godfathered through by Spielberg, but it seems now that if another Indiana Jones is birthed on screen then Steven Spielberg would be the midwife. Sorry, that analogy was running out of steam fast and I had to just embrace its awfulness.

Naturally, all this comes with the caveat that it's super early days on this thing and anything can happen. The project could die on the vine, they could end up continuing with Ford in a movie, Spielberg could drop out and just produce... The only thing that seems certain is that Indiana Jones leads a massive franchise and someone at some point is going to pump out another one.

I'm a little conflicted on this whole thing. I actually like Pratt in the fedora, but I really want Spielberg, Lucas and Ford to team up for one final Indy film together. Spielberg knows how people reacted to Crystal Skull and, unlike his buddy George, he's a populist and I think would address many of the issues most film-goers had with that film.

I want to see them end their collaboration on a high note, basically. Then Pratt can come in and it's even better if Spielberg sets the tone for the new series of films, bridging the past and the future for the franchise.

Anyway, those are my kneejerk thoughts based wholly on a bit of interesting speculation. What do you folks think?
